Bump Day Update- 20 Weeks

Halfway through the pregnancy!  Can you believe it?!  It really seems like only yesterday when I showed up to Logan's Roadhouse to surprise David with the news!  Of course, if I deliver earlier than 40 weeks I will be more than halfway through... now that's even more crazy!

Yesterday, David and I got up early and fought rush hour traffic to have our 20 week appointment at the doctor's office in Winter Park.  It was really awesome to see our little peanut grow even more.  This appointment they looked at everything!  Our ultrasound tech showed us all the developments from the 4 chambers in the heart to the different sides of the brain.  It was really cool.  And we got to see it's tiny little feet!  We got the A-okay from both our doctor who listened to the heartbeat and the tech who ran down a whole checklist of anatomy to look for.  It's perfect!  Right on track.  (Insert proud Mama grin here!)
The peanut's feet!
According to babycenter.com our peanut is supposed to be around 10 1/2 oz, but when the sonographer  measured it was approx. 15 oz!  Almost a pound!  Glad that it's putting on some weight, but a little terrified if it keeps up that pace!  I'd rather not have to push out a 10 lb bowling ball.  I'll love the baby no matter what it weighs... but it will definitely be an uphill battle to push out that big of a watermelon.  From head to feet (now they measure head to feet, not head to rump anymore because the legs are finally where they are supposed to be) the baby is about the length of a banana!

As far as symptoms go, I have only had one rough day of nausea.  I read that it's normal especially if you don't listen to your body and eat when the baby demands it.  Well that was me.  We got busy running errands and missed the lunch bell.  I did eat about 2 hours later than normal and the peanut was NOT okay with that.  I felt really nauseated the rest of the day and even had to put my lovely Seabands back on.  So from now on I am very conscious of that food clock and trying to make sure to eat as soon as the baby gives the signal.  Other than the nausea, I have had an occasional headache and round ligament tenderness.  I haven't had another charley horse (knock on wood) or nosebleed.  Although, I am supposed to expect more and more mucus thanks to hormones.  Awesome, right?  And as added protection for not only myself but the baby, I got a flu shot at the OBGYN yesterday.  Not a fun experience, but I would hate to get the flu and be pregnant at the same time.  So, I sucked it up and got a nice shot in my arm.  Now that's sore too. :/

I have constantly felt the baby move!  It's definitely the baby.  And it likes to kick and punch me in my lower abdomen.  It moves when I'm eating a lot as if to say, "I love that!  More please!"  Sometimes when I listen to music it'll kick along to the music, which is funny.  It's very active!  David hasn't been able to feel it, but I'm hoping that soon he'll get a little jab or two from the peanut.  From last week to today I have probably felt the little tyke move everyday at least once a day.  Most days I feel little reassuring kicks upwards of four times a day.  As I'm typing this, it's movin' and shakin'!
Our profile of the peanut at 20 weeks.

We officially ordered the furniture for the nursery so I'm super excited about that.  Not only will the bazillion onesies, socks, and diapers that are scattered all over the floor finally have a home, it'll be the final step to make the room feel like a baby's room.  Of course it's cute colors and now has a few baby books lining the little bookshelf, but a crib screams nursery.  I can't wait!  David's actually excited about getting the furniture too.  I'm pretty sure he'll be changing his tune while putting it together, but hopefully not.
Our baby bookshelf.

Until next week!
