Bump Day- 16 weeks

Today is a personal milestone for me.  Today I am going in for our 3D ultrasound and will find out the gender today.  I won't be announcing the results until after our family has all heard the news at the baby shower on Oct. 28th, but I really love hearing what everyone thinks the baby will be.

The baby has made some small developments this week like growing toenails and having it's eyes and ears move closer to their final locations.  Our little baby is about 4 1/2 inches long from head to rump and around 3 1/2 oz.  About the size of an avocado.  Its legs are much more developed and its heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day.

My body is preparing for the next few weeks as the baby will be doubling its weight and adding inches to its length.  The books say, the top of my womb is about halfway between my pelvic bone and belly button, but I think mine is probably a little higher since it was already high before the start of the second trimester.  My round ligaments on the sides of my abdomen have been stretching and making room for the new addition.  I had another nosebleed this past week but it wasn't too bad.  Just weird and unusual for someone who never had any.  I've been a little tired since I've been working out again.  But other than that, my symptoms have been pretty neutral.  I haven't had too many weird cravings, but sometimes the baby has to have random things and I'll get a strong craving for it.  That's only happened a couple of time so far.  I have craved milk, tomato sandwiches, apples and pickles.  Not at the same time though. :)

I think I have felt the baby move once.  Being a first time momma it's a little harder to tell if it was movement or just my imagination.  I know that I'm supposed to look for a butterfly feeling or light popping sensation from the baby.  I hope to feel it again soon (and often) so I can get a consistent "I'm okay Mom" from the baby.  Waiting 4 weeks in between doctor appointments to hear that the baby looks good is torture.  I thought this was the coolest picture ever.... kinda creepy, but really cool!
